It's been a little while since we heard from Sad13, the arguably unlikely pop moniker of Speedy Ortiz' vocalist/guitarist Sadie Dupuis. Following up her 2016 debut LP Slugger, comes 'Ghost (of a Good Time)' - a sinisterly sweet anthem for the introverted. Oddly apt for these times, its a “party song about not going out”, which pairs fuzzy synth bass with rocky beats and sugary vocals. Moving through a series of addictive melodies and unusual chord changes, Dupuis' characterful vocals guide the way like a shining light. Arriving alongside a colourful accompanying clip directed by Elle Schneider it's a joyful return to Dupuis' DIY roots. Sad13's sophomore album Haunted Painting will arrive on the 25th of September via Dupuis' own Wax Nine label. -Holly Mullineaux
